Report Barrow Town U11 v Kegworth Town U11 (Away) League 21 May 2010
On a nice sunny evening Kegworth won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Barrow batting was mixed with some fine shots played by Jack Nightingale, Adam Jalland and Liam Brown. Everyone chipped in to the total and the running between the wickets was on the whole not bad save one "oh no" moment! Barrow lost seven wickets which cost 35 valuable runs but the final total of 264 was always one that was going to test Kegworth and so it proved. A real team effort in the field with good bowling, catching, fielding and wicket keeping saw Barrow under skipper Jack Nightingale turn the screw and apply pressure. Jack Nightingale, Adam Jalland and Jamie Keogh bowled very well and there were wickets for Oliver Towell and Tom Queenborough. In the field Maddison Williamson pulled of the catch of the night with a stunner and Eddie Hurst was in the thick of the action all the time and did really well. A word to about Liam Brown who quietly is becoming a good little keeper and took a nice catch off Tom Queenborough.
Good teams work hard, think about what they are doing and stick together through thick and thin and the guys last night did just that. They played well and played for each other and the club. Needless to say I was very proud of them as should the whole club be. Well done lads! Finally a word about Kegworth. They were really welcoming last night. The BBQ was on and their coach was excellent in helping when one our lads who went down in action under enemy fire! My thanks also to a helper at Kegworth who took down details and helped with the First Aid. Kegworth are a good club and we wish them well, unless they are playing Barrow that it!! You know what I mean! Thanks to them and I expect a good return game later in the seaon.
For the record Barrow won by 20 runs. John W 22/5/10

Report Barrow Town U11 v Sileby Town U11 (Away) Friendly Match 7th May 2010
It was cold, very, very cold at Sileby, but we didn’t let that bother us. Sileby batted first, and Oliver Towell opened the bowling with a very tidy over, taking a wicket and conceding only 3 runs. Zach Gudger bowled the next over, bowling straight and true. He was followed by Barney Wright, who bowled an equally tidy over. Isaac Frost gave the Sileby opening pair their last six deliveries, who left the field having scored 21 runs. The next batting pair faced overs from Oliver Carruthers, Emily Claydon, Adam Wilkes and opener Oliver Towell who all bowled straight, and took a further wicket of the last over for this pair with a fine run out by Emily. The next batting pair lost a wicket immediately, bowled by Zach Gudger, but recovered well. The final pair took to the field with a modest total scored, and played well. Adam Dilkes and Oliver Towell bowled their extra overs with Oliver taking another wicket with a fine caught and bowled. The innings closed on 268, all players, including keeper, Josh Black having played their part.
Barrow’s innings started well with Oliver Carruthers and Adam Wilkes scoring well off the bat, Adam hit two clean fours. With the score on 223, the next pair, Isaac Frost and Barney Wright came to the wicket. They too batted well, but Isaac was bowled by a superb delivery that just clipped the bails. They took the score on to 242. Emily and Josh took to the field and batted well, but a couple of run outs meant the score was kept to 244. Final pair, Zach Gudger and Oliver Towell looked like they could take Barrow on to victory with some positive batting. Their positive play took the final score for Barrow to 263, only 6 runs short of a win. An excellent, close match ended with smiles on both team’s faces.
