The vice skipper again will be Mo Bobat and he will be hoping for plenty of runs on the Barrow track along with the prolific Carl Fourie and the reliable Mark Burchett. In the bowling department a lot again will depend on the hopefully returning Tim Wise and left arm seamer Carl Griggs. The 2nd XI find themselves in Division 5 for the new season following relegation in 2008. New skipper Steve Grew will be hoping for a better season this year and will be looking for plenty of runs off opposition attacks. The batting again looks strong with Dave Smith and Gavin Noon looking to build on last season's prolific campaigns where both got to three figures on a number of occaisons. Add in Imran Khan, Colin Rue, Andy Taylor, Nigel Blagg and promising youngsters like Vivek Lodhia, Tim Taylor and Tim Wilson and the side should post some decent totals. The bowling again will see Ian "Freddo" Willcocks, Imran and Dale Penny to the fore but with youngsters like Taylor, Wilson being one year older hopefuly we should see a break through or two with luck. Left arm seamer James Watts now U18 is certainly one to look out for in the new season he bowled well in 2008 and his batting is also improving all the time.

Barrow Town have traditionally always faired pretty well in the cups and 2008 was no exception with the club winning the Joe Orton Cup in an excellent final against Loughborough Carillon. The club will be defending this trophy in 2009 and has also entered the Everards Leagues Cups, Loughborough Charity Cup and also the Cockspur 20/20. The latter is an exciting prospects with top club sides battling for a big day out in front of the TV cameras in Cardiff.

On Sundays the club will again be fielding a side comprising a mixture of experience and youth in a number of friendly games. These matches give the promising youngsters at the club the chance to play at senior level and gain valuable experience in the longer form of the game. The club sees this level as a vital stepping stone to playing in the senior league sides. The team again will be skippered by Gavin Noon with help from John Wilson and John Shipman.
