Chairman's Message

Welcome to the website of Barrow Town Cricket Club. My name is John Williamson and I am the Chairman of the club. Our club prides itself on being a friendly village club at the centre of the life of the local community. We strive to develop and give opportunity to local Barrow youngsters and those from the surrounding area. We have over the years had many successes on the fleld and we are very pleased to be back in the top division of Leicestershire League cricket for the 2009 season. As a club we are committed to developing our young players and I would recommend that you take some time out to visit the pages dedicated to junior cricket on this website. We are proud to be an ECB Focus Club and also have been awarded ECB Clubmark. As a club we are very lucky to have a group of keen hard working volunteers who make the club what it is. Without them this club like many others just would not function. We are also grateful to all the bodies, companies and organisations that have seen fit to award us grants and provide sponsorship because of what we have done and continue to do into the future.

They say the game is for the players and we at the club strive to make our facilities the best we can. We are blessed with a very good groundsman and also a group of members who do a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes. After playing there is nothing quite like watching a game of cricket so why not check the fixtures out and get down to the ground and have a drink and perhaps something to eat! Our bacon rolls on a Sunday morning when the U13 play are second to none!! There is plenty of cricket timetabled for the 2009 season and I look forward to meeting you at the games.
