D Smith 71, R Patel 125
Langtons 146 for 9 - 5 points
Barrow Town 2nd XI gain winning draw
Having lost the toss again on a somewhat blustery and wet day, Barrow were put into bat. The opening partnership of Dave Smith and Rishi Patel got off to a flying start with Smith the 1st to fall having made 71 including 2 sixes before he'd made 50, Rishi going onto to score 125 on his second team debut. The wicket of Smith bought Andrew Spud Taylor to the crease looking more like a chip, who carried on with the scoring rate by notching up 43, most coming in boundaries. Gaz Lumpy Williamson was next in, who once again failed to score for the 2nd team, shortly followed by Grew who also impressed with 0. The evergreen Rue was the final Barrow batsmen to score a decent total, smashing 35 off not many balls. Barrow finishing with 329 off the 45 overs.
After tea, the heavily laden with food barrow team took to the field, Grew looking particularly slow. The Barrow openers of James Watts and Ian Wilcox both started well without much look, Fred Wilcox taking 0 for 33 off 8 overs and James 0 for 16 off 6 overs. Replacing Watts was Tim Taylor who got figures of 1 for 4 off 5 overs and in his 1st of 2 spells Dale Dark Cherry Penney finished with 8 overs 1 wicket for 16 runs. Having been replaced behind the stumps by Smith, Lumpy Williamson came on to bowl 11 overs of leg spin finishing up with 4 wickets bowling in tandem with Spud snorting down the hill for his first spell of the season who managed to take 3 wickets.
Barrow didn't quite manage to bowl out the Langtons having them at 129 for 9 off their 45 overs. A good result for Barrow who next travel to Newtown Linford for a top of the table clash hoping to keep the momentum of the first 4 weeks going.
