Barrow Town Cricket Club is situated in the village of
Barrow upon Soar near Loughborough in
Leicestershire.

The season is now at the halfway stage and the weather has taken a turn for the better. The 1st XI are handily placed as are the 2nd XI. The juniors season is drawing to a close for league action but we will try and arrange friendly matches as and when we can. There is no junior training on Saturday 17th July but it will start again on 24th July at 09:30am. The U13B side have had a couple of games called off recently because of the bizarre league rules which do not allow rearrangement of games when teams have players unavailable because of county and district matches. We have around 8 players who have been selected for county and district cricket and the LRCB have chosen Sunday as match day. Result we have been told to move B team players up which we have done but it then means around 7 of our players and 11 of the opposition do not get a game of cricket because the league say we can't rearrange the A team game and therefore we have to call off the B game! How this promotes youth cricket beats me but there you go. We will be looking to put forward a proposal in the winter to address this issue and also to look to match leagues so A teams play A teams and B teams play B teams. The game is to be enjoyed and mismatches benefit nobody.

Sun out and then tunder storms on the way! Summer in England! It is too hot for dogs!! Good to see the 1st XI won their first game of the season last week. Lets hope they win a few more from here on in! Well done to Mark Smith who made is first 50 for the club on Monday at Bardon Hill!! I think Dad will be pleased! Also good to see younger players coming through into senior cricket. Did you also know that a number of the older juniors help coach the younger players? This has to be good well done lads! Stay bright as they say!

Mo Bobat will again be running a Summer Cricket Coaching week for U9 to U17 9th to 13th August 2010 10am to 3pm. Click on button on this page for more details. Application forms will be available behind the bar in the Clubhouse. See one of the coaches for details.
The club would like to acknowledge and thank National Grid who have awarded the club a grant of £940 to help with coach development at the club.
The Barrow Girls are up a running! The next match is scheduled to be Monday June 14th away at Loughborough Carillon. In the meantime training is every Thursday from 6pm. Also we now have girls playing in our age group sides as well which is really good to see.
